TERRA SHIRMA RECORDING STUDIOS
Renowned Detroit producer Don Davis called this now shuttered studio home base. This studio was built around Russ Terrana, a recording and sound engineer god who later when on to work with the Motown label. In 1969 Davis approached Terrana with an artist whose debut album didn't fare very well and who wanted to produce a new record. Little did they know - or maybe they did know - that Isaac Hayes' "HOT BUTTERED SOUL", recorded and engineered in this building was going to be so successful and become the benchmark for all soul albums to come.
