VISITOR'S GUIDE TO THE "D" LECTURE SERIES

Led by the photographer and Detroit history "buff" himself, Michael engages the audience with incredible photos, history and stories from the city of Detroit and surrounding communities. A Detroit transplant, Michael has become immersed in the incredibly rich and vibrant culture, music and history that makes Detroit what it is today. The stories that he shares with his audiences fascinate and engage both young and old alike. Being a professional film and video director and photographer has given Michael access to locations that would otherwise be off-limits to the ordinary person.

Each lecture is designed to fit a 20-, 45-, or 90-minute time slot or can be tailored to work into any time allotment or schedule. Also, each lecture can be altered or edited for specific content to meet your group's needs and interests.

Each lecture includes photos and videos shot by Michael as well as a culmination of historic photos and images from a variety of local sources and used with permission.

Media requirements: Video Projector with SVGA connections and Audio Speaker and/or Audio Mixer with 1/8" stereo connector for sound out from Michael's laptop. If your facility is unable to provide or meet these requirements, please let us know as Michael can provide his own multimedia presentation equipment at a small cost. More Than Meets The Eye - There is a lot to Detroit that people don't see everyday. Great works of art, statues, and architecture adorn the city. Did you know that Detroit hosts some of the most phenomenally artistic graffiti art (commissioned and illegal) in the country? Did you that in hidden in the heart of Hamtramck is a historic baseball field originally used for Negro ball teams?  Did you know that Detroit was one of a handful of cities designated to house Nike missile bases in the late 1950's? Additionally, there is so much history that abounds in this city that much of it goes unseen, unknown or completely forgotten.
