Detroit's Eastern Market
The historic Eastern Market has been a hub of activity since the late 1800's. Once home to a variety of businesses including breweries, distilleries, grocery vendors, tanneries and slaughterhouses, the market is still the go-to place for farm-fresh vegetables, fruit, meats, and flowers. Typically only open on the weekends, the market has begun to offer shoppers an opportunity to buy food items on weekdays and even evenings. Even when the market's sheds are closed, the area is still a great place for night-life activities, great restaurants and people watching.
